On November 18, 2020, H.E., Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Cyprus Mr. Ruslan Nimchynskyi met with H.E., Political Director – Multilateral Relations and Security Policy of the MFA of the Republic of Cyprus Mr. Evangelos Savva.
The parties discussed the current agenda on issues of mutual interest, with an emphasis on further cooperation within international organizations as well as exchanged of views on mutual commitments to support candidates within the International institutions.
Particular attention was paid to the security situation in Eastern Ukraine and violations of human rights in the temporary occupied Crimea. The Ukrainian side expressed its gratitude for the consistent support by the Republic of Cyprus to the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as its unchanging position on the Ukraine's initiatives within the UN institutions.
Specific attention was drawn to the Crimean Platform Initiative, which has been launched by Ukraine and aimed to discuss a wide range of issues related to the temporary occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol. The Ambassador invited the Cypriot side to join the Initiative.
The parties expressed readiness to assist in strengthening the Ukraine-Cyprus political dialogue.
