Inter-regional cooperation between countries has deep historical roots. An important aspect of the development of Ukrainian-Cypriot cooperation is the established twinning relations between the cities and regions of the two countries, in particular: Odessa - Larnaca; Yalta - Limassol; Mariupol - Paphos; Sevastopol - Ayia Napa, as well as Aglantzia and the Solomenskiy district of Kyiv.

In 2019 in Larnaca the tourist logo of Odessa - "Anchor-heart" was established. The opening ceremony of the new art sign was attended by Odessa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov and Larnaca Mayor Andreas Viras. Business relations between cities were established 15 years ago.

In March and April 2021, online meetings of the mayors of the partner cities of Odesa and Larnaca took place in the format of video conferences. During the events, the parties discussed ways to intensify interregional cooperation in the tourism sector.
