On November 16, 2020, H.E., Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Cyprus Ruslan Nimchynskyi met with Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus Mrs. Thessalia Salina Shambos.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the most actual issues of the bilateral dialogue as well as exchanged views on promising areas of cooperation both at the bilateral level and within the international organizations. Special attention was paid to preparations for the upcoming political consultations (in the extended format via video teleconference) between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Republic of Cyprus at the level of Deputy Ministers in the end of November.

The Ukrainian side expressed its appreciation for the consistent support of the Republic of Cyprus to the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine as well as its unchanging position during the adoption of the Ukrainian initiatives in frame of UN institutions.

The Ambassador also informed his interlocutor about the Crimean Platform Initiative launched by Ukraine, the purpose of which is to discuss with international partners issues related to the temporary occupation of Crimea and city of Sevastopol as well as invited the Cypriot side to join the Initiative.

Following the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their mutual interest in maintaining its intensive political dialogue.
