On November 12, 2020, Mr. Ruslan Nimchynskyi, designate Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Cyprus met with H.E. Mr. Demetris Hadjiargyrou, Director of Schengen Consular Affairs and Crisis Management Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus.
The parties have exchanged information on the current political and economic developments in Ukraine and in Cyprus, discussed socio-economic implications of the COVID-19 pandemic, shared information on national experiences to prevent further spread of the virus and provide necessary support to communities and businesses.
They have expressed satisfaction at the current level of bilateral cooperation in the consular sphere, particularly in the work of strengthening the bilateral legal framework, in the efforts to ensure the legitimate rights and interests of citizens.
The Ambassador informed about the Crimean Platform Initiative launched by Ukraine with the aim to offer an effective international platform to address a wide range of issues related to the temporary occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol. He also invited the Republic of Cyprus to support and co-sponsor the UNGA draft Resolution on human rights in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol submitted by Ukraine.
