Life abroad often deprives people of the opportunity to share their pain with others, there is no one with whom to remember what is important specifically to you. That is why gathering together and feeling this unity is a great need for people in the diaspora.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Cyprus, Sergii Nizhynskyi, spoke at the event about national memory, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Poland to Cyprus, Marek Szczepanowski, spoke about understanding Ukrainians.
Member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine an head of the interparliamentary relations group with the Republic of Cyprus, Oleksandr Tkachenko, spoke about the key aspects of work with Cypriot colleagues, and Christos Parmakkis, the youth representative of Cyprus in the European Parliament, shared the story of his family and the losses the Holodomor brought to the Ukrainian branch of his relatives.
Each person recalled their own story, their close ones and relatives, those who resisted the Soviet regime in the past and those who are giving their lives for our people today.
We thank Father Vasyl Zakharus, the choir “Ukrainian Spivanki,” and the team of the “Cultural forces” for the spiritual enrichment of the gathering.
