With deep indignation the Embassy received the information about the holding of a pro-Russian action in Limassol on February 23, 2023 to support the state-sponsor of terrorism, during which appeals in support of Russia's bloody war against Ukraine were heard once again.

The Embassy strongly condemns the statement by the head of the Department of Computer Science of the University of Nicosia D.Apraksin during the mentioned gathering, in which he expressed support of Russia's crimes on the territory of Ukraine.

Today, when the entire civilized world, including the Government and the People of the Republic of Cyprus, strongly condemns Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine and stands with Ukraine to counter it, such public appeals are completely unacceptable.

The Embassy draws attention to the criminal nature of attempts to cultivate and establish the misanthropic ideology of war. The Russian propaganda machine has no place in the EU country. We call on the leadership of the University of Nicosia and the law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Cyprus to give a proper legal assessment of the actions and activities of D.Apraksin.
