The Embassy received with deep indignation the information about the act of vandalism committed recently against the Ukrainian-Cypriot tourist symbol "Anchor-Heart" in Larnaca.

It should be noted that over the past year this sculpture, presented by the city of Odessa to its sister city Larnaca as a sign of friendship, has become a meeting place for Ukrainians in Cyprus, where they gather for peaceful actions, leave various memorial attributes to honor the memory of the victims of the Russian war against Ukraine.

This symbol of Ukrainian-Cypriot friendship has repeatedly fallen victim to vandals. Attempts by the Ukrainian community to get the law enforcement agencies to identify the perpetrators of the cynical acts of desecration of this sculpture were in vain.

We call on law enforcement agencies and municipal authorities to identify those involved in the said acts of vandalism and to develop an effective mechanism to prevent such acts from occurring in the future.
