Today, with the support of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Cyprus, meetings were held with a delegation from the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and the Heart of Azovstal Foundation at the University of Cyprus, the University of Nicosia, and the Strovolos Municipality, where the delegation met with the Mayor Mr.Stavros Stavrinides. The main focus of the meetings was to exchange experience in the field of post-traumatic growth and to build dialogue between different communities.
Representatives of the foundations reached agreements with the universities on educational programmes and joint academic and research initiatives. At the meeting with the Strovolos Municipality, the discussions focused on sharing experience and addressing challenges related to community engagement and support.
Cyprus has valuable experience for Ukrainians as a country that has faced occupation and addressed the challenges of internally displaced persons. Furthermore, given the island’s geographical location and the fact that it provides refuge to people affected by conflicts in the Middle East, forcibly displaced Ukrainians, and people from many other countries, Cyprus has developed an important ability to maintain a balanced dialogue with people who have experienced trauma.
