Cyprus has not seen such a penetrating photo exhibition for a long time - life in Ukrainian cities on the front line with all its pain and hopelessness is shown in the works of Eddie van Wessel in such a way that for those who look at the photos, all borders are erased, and people find themselves in the realities of war with their hearts.
Yesterday, on May 22, in Limassol, the exhibition "Ukraine: Voices, Stories, European Future" by the prominent Dutch photographer Eddie van Wessel opened, which was initiated by the Embassy of the Netherlands in Cyprus with the support of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Cyprus.
The event was attended by representatives of diplomatic missions and the Ukrainian community in Cyprus.
In his speech, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Cyprus Serhii Nizhynskyi emphasized: "The photo shows the truth, which we must look at, no matter how difficult it is. And remember why and for what Ukraine is fighting. In addition, Ukraine gives the lives of its people and for the security of all of Europe. Therefore, as the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said - we are defending Europe not partially, but completely. Similarly, we need to be fully in the European Union."
And the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Netherlands to Cyprus Wouter Plomp thanked the author of the photo and everyone thanks to whom Ukraine is not alone in its struggle.
The Embassy of Ukraine also notes that today in Cyprus, even at the level of cultural events, there is indeed more support for Ukraine, especially after the signing of the "Opinion Decision" between ambassadors of 17 countries in February of this year.
The exhibition "Ukraine: Voices, Stories, European Future" will be open at Morfi Gallery until May 27.
