On January 27, Holocaust Remembrance Day, Ukrainians feel the pain of the Jewish people as their own. After all, during the fight against fascism during World War II, they lived side by side, and Babyn Yar in Kyiv is a place known to everyone.
And today, at the invitation of the Jewish community of Cyprus and Chief Rabbi Arie Zeev Raskin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Cyprus Dr. Sergii Nizhynskyi attended an event commemorating the Holocaust at the Jewish Museum in Larnaca.
Ambassador Sergii Nizhynskyi lit a candle in memory of the 6,000,000 victims together with representatives of the local authorities of Cyprus, ambassadors of Israel, Australia, Spain, France, Romania, and deputy ambassadors of the USA, Sweden, and Austria present at the event.
It is important to remember and honor such events, because even today genocide does not disappear...
And millions of Ukrainians in the center of Europe suffer from both physical and mental, cultural destruction. Russia, with which we once fought fascism together - today fascism is following suit. But we will stand and choose our lives and identity.
