The Embassy strongly condemns any attempt to cynically support the Russian war against Ukraine in the Republic of Cyprus.
The Embassy was deeply outraged by the information that another action in support of Russia's bloody war against Ukraine was held on April 3, 2022 in Paphos.
We consider any actions aimed at cultivating and affirming the misanthropic and hate-filled ideology of war as unacceptable. Russian fascism has no place in the EU, whose policies and public opinion are based on the moral values of a democratic world.
We want to remind that the President of the Republic of Cyprus, the House of Representatives of the Republic of Cyprus, leaders of the country's leading political parties strongly condemned Russia's invasion of Ukraine, called for an immediate ceasefire and withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukrainian territory, expressed their support for the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders. Representatives of the Cypriot society and thousands of ordinary citizens have declared solidarity with Ukraine and its People.
The Embassy accordingly appealed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus, expressing indignation at the anti-Ukrainian provocative action aimed at undermining the European position on support for Ukraine, and sent inquiries about the legitimacy of such events to the relevant agencies of the Republic of Cyprus.
The Embassy does not ignore any attempts to question the territorial integrity of Ukraine, which the Ukrainian people are struggling for so hard in the face of the armed aggression by Russia.
The Embassy is grateful to every citizen who, in these difficult times, actively and loudly declares the inadmissibility of propaganda of war and justification of Russia's heinous crimes against humanity.
