On June 28, 2023, Ambassador of Ukraine Ruslan Nimchynskyi met with Minister of Education, Sports and Youth of the Republic of Cyprus Ms. Athena Michaelidou.

During the meeting the Ambassador informed about the current situation in Ukraine and expressed sincere gratitude to Mrs. Michalidou for supporting and ensuring a continuous educational process for Ukrainian children temporarily staying in Cyprus due to the war against Ukraine.

Ms. Mihaly confirmed her readiness to provide comprehensive support to Ukrainians on the island.

In this context, there was an exchange of views on the possibility of joint initiatives in this direction.

Particular attention was paid to the signing of the Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Cyprus on mutual recognition of educational qualifications and academic degrees.
