On September 5, 2019, the reception on the occasion of the 28th anniversary of Independence of Ukraine organized by the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Cyprus took place in Nicosia.

The event was attended by representatives of the Government of the Republic of Cyprus, diplomatic missions, Cypriot business and NGO organizations, as well as the representatives of the Ukrainian community of Cyprus.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Cyprus Mr Borys Humeniuk and Minister of Defense of the Republic of Cyprus Mr Savvas Angelides delivered a welcoming address.

The Ambassador expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the Republic of Cyprus for the continuous support from the authorities of the State and the Government of the Republic of Cyprus in countering Russian aggression both at the bilateral level as well as within the EU and other international organizations. 

 

During his speech Ambassador also informed the participants on the internal political processes that are currently taking place in Ukraine, as well as on the priorities of the leadership of the State and the Ukrainian Government.

Minister of Defense of the Republic of Cyprus Mr Savvas Angelides in his welcoming speech has reaffirmed the intention of the Government of the Republic of Cyprus to continue supporting Ukraine, its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

During the event, the photo exhibition "The World We Protect" has been displayed. This is a project by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, and it’s main idea is to show heroism of our compatriots, who are currently defending our country from the Russian military intervention.
