On May 19, 2017, Mr. Pavlo Klimkin, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine met with Mr. Nicos Anastasiades, the President of the Republic of Cyprus.
The Parties discussed a wide range of issues of mutual interest underlining excellent bilateral co-operation between Ukraine and the Republic of Cyprus in the political and economic fields.
Mr. Nicos Anastasiades reiterated principal position of the Republic of Cyprus regarding its strong support to sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine as well as support to sanctions imposed by the EU towards Russian Federation.
Mr. Pavlo Klimkin stressed that Ukraine will proceed to support Nicosia on the way to resolve Cyprus Issue on the basis of corresponding provisions of the UN Security Council resolutions and under support of the EU.
The Cypriot Party congratulated Ukraine with a recent decision of the EU to liberalize further visa regime with Ukrainian nationals as well as with successful conduct of a “Eurovision – 2017” Song Contest in Kyiv.
Mr. Nicos Anastasiades had renewed his invitation to Mr. Petro Poroshenko, the President of Ukraine to visit Cyprus with an official visit soon.
