19 September 2015 marks 289 years from the time Vasyl Grigorovich-Barsky - the world famous Kyiv pedestrian traveler, pilgrim, scientist and writer, for the first time visited Cyprus.
On this occasion on 19th of September in Limassol the flowers were laid to the memorial plaque dedicated to the visit of Grigororvich-Barsky to Cyprus, which is placed on the left side of the Ayia Napa Cathedral. The official opening ceremony of a memorial plaque in Limassol was held on September 19, 2013.
Vasyl Grigorovich-Barsky is known in Cyprus, his notes were used by the Church of Cyprus as a primary source for some historical documents about number of Cypriot monasteries. A well-known is its unique manuscript on the history of Cyprus of 18th-century and his drawings of Holy monasteries of Cyprus.
