On May 8, 2015, at the Embassy of Ukraine to the Republic of Cyprus an event dedicated to the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation and the 70th Anniversary of the Victory over Nazism in Europe in World War II. The photo and archival materials related to the role of Ukraine and Ukrainians in this War were presented at the Embassy.
Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Cyprus Mr. Borys Humeniuk, in his address to the guests, drew attention to the significant contribution of Ukrainians in the fight against Nazism as well to the losses suffered by Ukraine during the WWII. The Ambassador congratulated all those present on the holiday and wished the peace to be reached on Ukrainian soil.
After the event at the Embassy, in the Church of St. Apostol Andrew in Nicosia the memorial liturgy was held to commemorate those who were killed during the Second World War.
