The event began with a minute of silence in memory of those killed in the war that Russia is waging against Ukraine, and with the National Anthem of Ukraine.
Then a briefing of the five initiators of the document took place on stage. Speeches were made by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Cyprus Sergii Nizhynskyi, Martin Hagström, Ambassador of Sweden, Michael Tatham, British High Commissioner, Wouter Plomp, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Marek Szczepanowski, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland. Ms Clélia Chevrier Kolačko, Ambassador of France, who was one of the signatories of the letter, also took the floor.
We quote from the "Opinion Decision":
"A secure, independent and stable Ukraine guarantees the same for our countries, Cyprus and Europe. We must continue to provide Ukraine with the strongest possible position for our common security and our future in Europe.
May this partnership inspire a renewed commitment: to the victory of Ukraine, to the security of Europe and to a just and lasting solution based on international law and the Charter of the United Nations".
