HOTREC, representing 47 national associations from 36 European countries, brought together representatives from 42 countries, the Hotels Association, the Paphos Business Association, local authorities, and other industry leaders.
On October 16, Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides delivered a speech outlining strategies for tourism and hospitality development. Cyprus Deputy Minister of Tourism Kostas Koumis participated in networking sessions and panel discussions focused on the industry’s future.
At the invitation of the Cypriot side, the Assembly was attended by Natalia Tabaka, Head of the State Agency for Tourism Development of Ukraine, Iryna Sidletska, President of the Association of Hotels and Resorts of Ukraine, and Serhii Nizhynskyi, Ukraine’s Ambassador to the Republic of Cyprus.
During the event, a meeting was held between the Ukrainian Ambassador and Cyprus Deputy Minister of Tourism Kostas Koumis, where key cooperation issues were discussed, including:
• The possibility of broadcasting Ukrainian TV channels in Cyprus hotels;
• Engaging Cyprus’s tourism sector (resorts) in projects to organize recreation and rehabilitation for families of Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemen, as well as rehabilitation for injured Ukrainian soldiers during winter, with funding secured, including through EU grants;
• Projects supported by the EU during Cyprus’s presidency of the EU Council in 2026;
• Launching audio guides in Cyprus museums under the patronage of Ukraine’s First Lady, Olena Zelenska;
• Developing joint tourism routes themed around “historical figures.”
This event marked a significant step in strengthening tourism cooperation between Ukraine and Cyprus.
