On 18 July, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis received copies of credentials from the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Ukraine Michalis Firillas.
Deputy Minister congratulated the Ambassador on the beginning of his diplomatic mission in Ukraine, expressed gratitude to the Republic of Cyprus for its comprehensive support for Ukraine in countering Russia’s armed aggression, and expressed hope for the further development of Ukrainian-Cypriot relations.
During the meeting, the parties discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation, in particular the prospects for enhancing political dialogue, expanding economic and security cooperation, as well as supporting Ukraine’s European integration course.
Special emphasis interlocutors placed on the importance of Cyprus’ consistent support for Ukraine’s European aspirations, particularly in light of the Republic of Cyprus’ upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2026.
The Ambassador of Cyprus, in turn, reaffirmed his country’s readiness to continue providing comprehensive support to Ukraine and to deepen cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
