The ceremony featured the traditional laying of wreaths at the memorial, a Military march from the Military Band, and a minute of silence.
Speeches were delivered by:
▪️ Nicosia Mayor Charalambos Prountzos — who emphasized the importance of remembering the victims of wars and the need to preserve peace.
▪️ Chief of National Guard, Lieutenant General Emmanouil Theodorou — who expressed gratitude for the contribution of all nations to the struggle for freedom.
It was symbolic to see images of Christian saints on police chevrons, which are increasingly appearing on Ukrainian military uniforms as well, as the Orthodox faith holds special significance for defenders in both countries.
Ukraine's participation in such events is a symbol of unity in the fight for shared values: freedom, dignity, and peace.
Eternal memory to the fallen heroes.
May their sacrifice remind us: peace is a daily responsibility!
