Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha: "It was very insightful and important to meet with UAE Minister of State Lana Nusseibeh on the sidelines of events marking the start of Cyprus’s EU Council Presidency.  

We noted the strong momentum in bilateral relations, particularly following the signing of the Ukraine-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement.  

I expressed gratitude to the UAE for its consistent support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, its mediation in exchanges and release of our people, humanitarian assistance, support for the First Lady Olena Zelenska’s initiatives. 

I informed my UAE colleague about the battlefield situation and Russia’s attacks along the frontline, which come at an enormous price of it loosing more than 30,000 occupants per month. 

We discussed ways for the UAE to assist Ukrainian energy infrastructure, which is under Russia’s daily brutal attacks. 

I informed about the recent peace efforts, particularly the results of the Paris meeting, and Ukraine’s perspective of sequence of steps toward a lasting peace.  

Pressure on Russia, politically and through sanctions, and security guarantees for Ukraine are essential in this matter. 

We also exchanged views on the situation in Iran, Yemen, and the security challenges across the region."
