In connection with the celebration in Ukraine and abroad of the Day of Unity of Ukraine the event dedicated to this remarkable date in the history of the Ukrainian State was held at the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Cyprus on January 23, 2017 together with Ukrainian community in Cyprus.

Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Cyprus Mr. Borys Humeniuk, in his speech, informed that 2017 was declared the Year of Ukrainian revolution of 1917 - 1921, and drew attention to the fact that the Day of Unity of Ukraine coincides with the tragic events of 2014 during the Revolution of Dignity. With a minute of silence the heroes of Ukraine who gave their lives for the unified and free Ukraine at Maidan on January 22, 2014 Nihoyan, Verbytskyi and Zhyznevskyi were commemorated. In the same context, the Ambassador stressed the longstanding fight of Ukrainian people for Independence and Unity which continues until now under the conditions of Russian occupation. 

During the event the archival and photographic documents of the State Archive Service of Ukraine devoted to the Day of Unity of Ukraine were presented as well as Ukrainian flash-mob was conducted in support of action #UnitedUkraine.

Ukrainian community conveyed presented to the Embassy by Defender of the Fatherland and Cyborg (defense of Donetsk airport) Ruslan Borovik of his authorship photobook DAP.

Participants had an opportunity to listen and join the performance of patriotic Ukrainian songs by talented Ukrainian Nadiya Tsarenko.
