Ukrainians in Cyprus, who are the real patriots of their Motherland, greeted each other with the biggest national holiday of Ukraine - Independence Day, wishing peace, prosperity and unity of all the people of Ukraine and expressed their respect to the Ukrainian State by performing of the national anthem.

Present in Cyprus Hieromonch Vasyliy Zakharus of the Lviv St.Michael monastery and brother Arseniy served Holy liturgy "In prayer for Ukraine". Father Vasyliy blessed the icon of the Holy Mother of God and presented it to the community with the purpose of the Mother of God to protect all Ukrainians on this island. On the eve of the celebration at the premises of Maronite church in Nicosia a memorial service for those who gave their lives for the independence of Ukraine was also held.

During the celebration held at the Embassy the friendly con were held in an atmosphere of patriotism and solidarity. The participants took part in the competition on knowledge of the history and traditions of Ukraine, performed Ukrainian songs, with the help of talented Ukrainians Bogdan Koval and Mykyta Zozovskyi.
