On October 29, 2015, during the regular plenary session the House of Representatives (parliament) of the Republic of Cyprus adopted the Law on ratification of the Association Agreement between EU and Ukraine.
In favor of ratification voted parliamentarians of "Democratic Rally" (DISY), "Democratic Party" (DIKO); deputies of "The Movement for Social Democracy" (EDEK) and "Cyprus Green Party" abstained, another present at the session deputies of the "Progressive Party of Working People" (AKEL) voted "against". For entry into force the Law must be approved by the President of the Republic of Cyprus.
Ukraine Association Agreement with the EU – is the agreement on association between European Union and Ukraine, developed specifically for Ukraine and establishes political association and economic integration. The parties are committed to co-operate and converge economic policy, legislation and regulation on a broad range of areas.
The political part of the Agreement was signed between Ukraine and the EU and its Member States on March 21, 2014, the economic part was signed on June 27, 2014. The Association Agreement will enter into force once all EU Member States, in addition to Ukraine, have ratified it.
