On August 26, 2015, the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Cyprus Borys Humeniuk had a meeting with the newly appointed Director of the Cyprus MFA Bilateral Affairs with EU Member States and Neighboring Countries Department Mrs. Maria Michael. During the meeting the current issues of Ukrainian-Cypriot agenda discussed. In particular, the interlocutors confirmed mutual interest of both sides in conducting official visits of the President of Cyprus H.E.Mr Nicos Anastasiades and the President of the House of Representatives Mr. Yiannakis Omirou to Ukraine by the end of 2015. In addition, the parties stressed the importance of immediate ratification by the Parliament of Cyprus of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.  

Special attention was paid to the situation in Ukraine, related to Russian aggression, continuing violation by Russia of the Minsk agreements, increasing of Russian military presence in the Donbas and illegal sentence of Ukrainian citizens Sentsov and Kolchenko in Russia. The Cypriot Party condemned the illegal sentence and breach of the principles and norms of international law by Russia.
