In connection with the celebration in Ukraine and abroad of the Day of Unity of Ukraine (January 22), the event dedicated to this remarkable date in the history of the Ukrainian State was held at the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Cyprus on Friday, January 23, 2015.

Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Cyprus Mr. Borys Humeniuk, in his speech, drew attention to the importance of this year’s celebration of this remarkable event in the history of our country, being held under the conditions of occupation of the territories of Ukraine by Russia. He also described parallels between the liberation struggle of the Ukrainian people for independence at the beginning of twentieth century and today.

During the event an exhibition of archival and photographic document devoted to the fight for independence was held as well as Ukrainian flash-mob with the participation of Ukrainian community in Cyprus and representatives of the Embassy was organized.
